Default Ecu Compatibility question

Hey guys, I got a question about what ecu's I could use on my 89 CRX Si. Currently I have a Twincam ZC in there running with a 1.5L ecu *CRAP*! So obviously I need a new ecu. I know many use the Stock Civic Si ecu, but I want a little better. I was considering the 88-89 integra ecu (pg7), but then I came across a 90-91 Integra ecu (PR4). I believe that the Pr4 is also OBD0, so my question is, is the PR4 plug and play into a CRX Si? Or do I need to make mods to the wires? Also, if the PR4 is compatible, which one do you think would be a better match for the Dohc ZC, PR4 or PG7? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

i really like my 89 integra ecu, compared to a 91 si ecu. i can actually feel the difference, the motor just runs better.

Yeah I've actually always thought that if I were to ever get a Twincam ZC swap I'd use the PG7, since their motors are very similar to the ZC. But the thing that was making me question it was that PG7 are getting outrageous in prices. I remember back a couple months ago (shoulda bought it then) some peeps were selling them for 40 bucks, and now they're goin for 75+. Well after a little bit of searching I came across the PR4 with an asking price of 50 bucks, I'm pretty sure this goes for a majority of us believe, cheaper= (prices jackin up like the hf manifolds!). I also noticed that the PR4 was an OBD0 just like the Si and PG7, so I figured that maybe the performance would be similar if not better than the PG7. Something else that also made me question the potential of the PR4 is that I met a guy that had a 95 civic hatch with a mildly built D15 and he was running an LS ecu on there (probably not the PR4, probably the 94 or 95) and he was hittin 14.3 on the 1/4 with street tires and with slicks he'd probably be hittin the 13's. So that was a thinker. Ahhh... Hondas, so many possiblities, so little money. Now time to search for a PG7 to fit my budget.

ThankS!

P.S. Any other opinions on this subject would be appreciated. Thanks! Also "89 CRX Si" me too lazy to do all that ghettodyne, but I may try it sometime in the future, when it's perfect without any glitches.

Hey, if you do use the Pr4 with the ZC, let us know how it works.. But then again, I guess you couldnt compare the PG7 and Pr4, unless you had both

I ran the stock PR4 code with my ZC on my Zdyne SECU, and it seemed to run pretty similar as the PM7 tune I have, maybe I will take a closer look to see what the differences are between each maps.

Actually now I am really considering trying out the PR4. I just hope that the fella that had it for sale, still gots it. Yeah it would suck that I really had no other ecu, such as the PG7 to compare to. Well about that junkyard picking, I've tried out the local juckyards not too long ago, in SoCal lil Civics, CRXs, Integs and such are picked clean pretty quick. I remember e-mail Jeff a ways back about which turbo he prefered on his setups and in his reply he said turbos from the pick-u-parts up there are only something like 24.95, shiet down here there something like 99.95+. Incredibily gay.

I might go out and check out the local yards again, I highly doubt that there will be any but it's worth a shot. But hey LittleG344, you said that you got a PG7 for 25bucks, hook it up and pick me up one, yeah? I'll send you a money order for the PG7 and the shipping (should be something like $5, USPS has some of those flat rate Priority envelopes where how ever much you could stick in it it's like 3.95 or something like that). Also hotrex how much did you pick up the PG7 for?

Man gots to go, this is my favorite place to do my before class studying. Be back in between my next to classes, gots to study hard :P

Thanks!

P.S. Gosh schools having those super fast internet connections are GREAT!
