god damnit! please sticky this! this quesion is asked twice a week.

1. locate you service wire (a 2 prong female wire), usually behind the passenger side kick panel near/around glovebox area.

2. take a paper clip and straighten it out.

3. stick the paper clip (one end in each prong) in the 2 prong service wire (this is referred to as "jumping" the wire).

4. once you have sucessfully "jumped" the wire, turn the ignition to the "on" position.

5. now count the flashes that you cel (check engine light) emits. (long flashes represent a ten, and short flashes represent a 1. for example, the cel flashes 1 long flash and 4 quick flashes, that would be code "14", then there is a short pause and the cel flashes 2 long flashes, and 4 short flashes, this would be code "24").

6. after you are certain that you have retreived the proper codes, you need to look up these "numbers" to see what they mean. http://www.londonautoclub.org/html/t..._CEL_Codes.htm

in case you're wondering, i typed all of that before i found that site, i was searching for a code sheet and stubled across that

yeah, the actual cel, that is on your cluster will flash these codes once you jump the service wire. don't start the car, just turn the ign to "on" position, and the light should start flashing.
