ebay hid kits
I am thinking about buying a ebay hid, kit, I currently have tyc projector beam headlights on my car, (note: gives a ---- if anyone thinks they are ricey, because I like them, they look good to me, no stock jdm for me). disclaimer out of the way. anyways I wanna get brighter lights. I forgot what bulbs are they exactly, I think halogen 1, or2. my car originally came with h4, so on the projector it has a h4 plug, if I get a hid kit what lights would be preffered, or work with the hid kit? if I can't the right kit I should be able to hard wire it in correct?

Re: ebay hid kits
If you get them let me know how you like them, because Im interested in them. Its dark as ---- where I live, There isnt ---- for street lights around here.

Re: ebay hid kits
Don't do it. You'll send glare and blind everyone else on the road. If you're lucky, one will swerve in front of you since they can't see a damn thing....
Do retrofits of factory projectors, or don't do it at all... HID plug and play IS the new altezza.... |
Re: ebay hid kits
Agreed... they do suck when you get shined with a set, almost plowed a few people with them just because I hate em' :8

Just throwing in ebay bulbs in ebay projectors will blind every vehicle, and might end up causing an accident. I know the proper way is more expensive, but when someone runs into your car because they are blinded, it'll end up costing more. |
Re: ebay hid kits
HID kit + TYC projectors, if you're lazy.

even the factory bmw and audi lights are blinding here. I probably just need to get some good quality bulbs instead of a conversion kit. can the hid bulbs work with a stock system, or do it need the balast to amplify it? I really hate seeing those things in the motor bay |
Re: ebay hid kits
Any decent one afaik has ballasts... it's just necessary to get the light output but keeping the amp draw down or else you have melted wires or a fire. Ballasts convert to higher voltage so less amps are needed.

Re: ebay hid kits
i know a few people that have just ran them for their high beams and they say they like them a lot. ive never riden in the car but i have been infront of them when they flashed them and theyre bright as a bitch.

Re: ebay hid kits
If their blinding other drivers just aim that ---- right. You can blind other cars with your stock headlights if their all googly eyed and pointing everywhere but where you want them. I'm going with the ebay 6k hid kit for my volvo. They've gone dirt cheap now and you can find a full kit from 60 shipped that includes everything needed...ballast,harness, and bulbs brand new.

Re: ebay hid kits
ill get one kits soon..
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/HID-C...spagenameZWDVW for example.. i hope them works :-\ |

The HID light is so much brighter so that you can't control it with the stock headlights. That's the reason if you don't retrofit them they suck and blind everyone on the road. And I wonder how the quality of a $60 kit is? I'm guessing it's similar to the ricer-blue headlight bulbs that blow-out every month from getting too hot. |
Re: ebay hid kits
I am still debating on getting them, inspection is really ---- here, and hard to pass, I am surprised I pass it with a turbo, and gutted cat with 3" exhaust.
I may get the lights soon, I am just not sure. |
Re: ebay hid kits
First bit of cash after xmas I'm getting a kit. I may go with a kit I found on volvo forum I post on that a vendor sells for 125 shipped and had good feedback from and pics of members who got the kit.

Re: ebay hid kits
im probly gona get the cheapest kit on ebay when my projectors come, just to see. there like 75-80 shipped
|
Re: ebay hid kits
the hid-tyc combo is ok
I put hid's in the 'stock' projector lenses of the TYCs for a while and they were decent. no glare to blind oncoming traffic, but not very effective light output considering what HIDs are capable of. (i.e. hotspots, dull cutoff etc.) retrofitted some bi-xenon lenses in there. low beam is very nice and crisp and high beam you=blind :-* |

Re: ebay hid kits
I feel hids kits on them damn Rsx's with no retro are the worst for glare! nasty! Other than the glare.. i bought a set of HIDs of Ebay 1.5 years ago
same ballasts same bulbs still kickin!! ;D |
Re: ebay hid kits
I just ordered a hid kit for my projectors,
can't be any worst that these new audis and bmw here their lights are so blinding hope I can install the kit has to where they look stock by hiding the balasts out of the engine bay. |
Re: ebay hid kits
i was actually gonna do the same thing. i bought a car that had some gay projectors on it so i panted them and am gonna put a P&P kit in there soon. don't worry about the glare everybody is talking about because that is only in the stock reflective housing. your projectors should give a decent result, but still nothing liek a retro. hmm, wonder if you could just swap out the lense down the road?
|
Re: ebay hid kits
Poor aim in all headlights suck no matter HID or halogen, or whatever. Show us a pic when you get them done. HID and Halogen are like night and day. I love the 4300K bulb in my car, as I think anything over 6k is gettin ricey.

Re: ebay hid kits

I can see more ---- on the road then my friends with there HID kits and my ---- was free. Another good thing is my light doesn't look that homo purple color. |

when I started this thread I had no idea what the meaning of color temperature, I wanted bright white bluish lights. so when I ordered I ask for the 8000k ones, if I knew that it was rice blue I would have gotten something between that and stock. |

Re: ebay hid kits
I just installed and tested them, and they looked great, no annoying glare as most people said it would create, even though I got the 8000k bulbs they are not rice, blue they are super white, looked like the bmw/audi lights.
I like the look, except the whining comming from the balasts. how safe is it to install the balasts outside of the engine bay? I installed mines under the corner lights inside the bumper, so the modification look natural, hopefully they are water resistant. |
Re: ebay hid kits
did you just install them in the stock lights or aftermarket ones? i'm pretty sure you should be good with the ballasts there.
|

Good job, now post pics >:(
