Incase you didnt know, it is so that all the grime and containments in your oil will hopefully become suspended in the oil; thru movement and heat( thus when you change it, the ---- in your motor comes out with the oil)

when I cahnge my oil I always drive to the autopart store, get my oil and ----, drive it back home, put it on ramps, pop the hood and let it sit for 20min, and then change my oil. Works like a charm, and I dont burn the ---- out ouf myself trying to get to my oil filter.
