Default dry oil filter at change

a friend of mine just changed his oil in his crx and his oil filter was dry. dry as in clean, oil never went through it dry. it has been around 4-5k miles since the last one.

this car has 34k mi on it (he never drives it, and when she does, it is freeway only), the whole car is cherry, i mean, you can count how many rock chips with one hand. he took off the valve cover, and there wasnt any burning or scoring, so the head was getting oil flow.

what could clog up the passage way so that there wouldnt be any flow in the oil filter?

What kinda oil filter? aftermarket ones can bleed down quickly compared to factory filters.
