Default Drivetrain issues

Just wanted to see what some opinions on this are. I didn't feel like messing with the car at the point this all happened. I got my minime in my car and got it fired up. I backed the car out of a long driveway with no trouble and into the road, I then put it in first, shifted to second and then I had nothing all of a sudden. The car would go into gear and I'd let out on the clutch no power. The speedo jumped up to the appropriate speed for the gear and rpm, so it can't be the clutch. I'm guessing some driveline part in the trans broke or an axles came out. Could that even happen? Doesn't seem like the transmission would just break like that though either. Any insight appreciated.

and while I'm at, anybody got a y8 or z6 trans for sale?

No I haven't checked that yet. I was out of time when tis happened and I wasn't even sure that could be the problem. Is that possible?

axle prolly popped out. you have to make sure you get the axle all the way into the tranny. you should feel it click in, and there shouldn't be much of a gap between the tranny and axle if it's in all the way
