Default D16Z6 Swap Wiring Q

I have a 91 Civic SE (same as the DX DPFI) and I have a D16Z6 that I will probably be dropping into it. I know there are a few different ways to to the wiring, but which is easiest? Any benefits to one or the other?

Can I use my current ECU and Distributor and swap to MPFI and use an RPM activated switch for VTEC? Will the 5G intake manifold, injectors ect work if I keep the 4G distibutor and ECU?

Thanks for any suggestions or ideas

conver the car to MPFI and do it that way. the car will suck *** if you only run 2 injectors. i would use the z6 computer as well as teh dizzy from the z6

I agree with Onyx. I would switch to the entire 5g civic computer and all. The ECU has the proper fuel and timing maps for the vtec lobes. Being the best way. but not the easiest.

to make useing the ex computer easier. I would go with hasport shorty harness. Thats what I did. I got raped on it though. It cost me 200 bucks.

Oh and when you get the the part about the injector resistor box. Disregarde it if you are going to use the ex ecu and dizzy. Just hook up the yellow/black wires coming off the injectors to the two yellow/black wires that went to the old dx injectos. They go back to the ecu. The reason I say this is that I thought they were a ground and they aren't. They have to go back to the ecu because if you ground them on the body they short out the #14 fuse and its a pain in the ***.

dpfi-->mpfi wiring:
c1 (orange)-->b10
c2 (white)-->b12
blue/green from dizzy-->c1
blue/yellow from dizzy-->c2
brown wire from injector 1-->a1
red wire from injector 2-->hook up to red dpfi injector wire
blue wire from injector 3--> a5
yellow wire from injector 4--> hook up to yellow dpfi injector wire

(I might have switched the locations of the red and yellow wires since I'm saying this from memory, if so then take note of that.)

to answer your questions...
1..do the dpfi to mpfi first.
2..YES you can use you current ecu if you LEAVE the dpfi on. but if you use mpfi, then NO
3..Yes, you can use teh 5 gen mani...sensors are jsut diff. colors and some stuff are switched around. everything fits though. you can use the 5 gen injectors too but they run without a resistor. you can add a resistor to them...but it wont do much. but if you KEEP the 4g ecu...no...none of these will work. you have to keep dpfi ecu for dpfi...and mpfi ecu for mpfi. good luck.
