Ive got a vx and i bought a d16y8 motor complete with ecu.Now i dont really want to change the whole motor cause it will cause issues with registering cause its a bigger motor.Now out of the D16y8 what can i use to make my d15z1 more stronger.Im going to use the head for sure but what about rods,oil pump??I dont no what ecu to use yet either.

Also the car is a EG Civic obd1.

lol...hey..but yeah. the motor will be fine in your car. smog wont be and issue. the motor will pass. they dont worry too much about the sohc. its the dohc vtec you gotta worry about.

okay well i live in australia.And i found out its a auto motor +ecu.What hp are y8 rods rated at??

auto is fine. the cam profile is a little diff but nothing really noticable. but the ecu..YUCK..OBD2..throw that thing away. if you drop that motor into your car, you wont need some of the sensors, like the one on the plastic airbox tube and the one on the cover next to the pulley. dont remember the names. use a p28 ecu 5 speed. thats the one from the sohc vtec d16z6 motors. but on the power rating, i dont know. i hope someone else here can help you out on that.

Okay well ive decided to rip out the d15z1.Pull the pistons out and slap them in the y8.And use all the d15z1 sensors except o2,egr.Since ive lost my job im gona have to junkyard build it due to cash

why use the z1 pistons in the y8

Cause they have a bigger dish than y8 pistons.So it will have less compression.
