Default d16y8 head on a d16a6 block

do i need to use the d16y8 timing belt? the deck height of the d16a6 head is higher than the d16y8, and when i put the head on, the timing belt was loose.

uhm is your tensioner loose?

loosen that, turn the motor back a bit then tighten it back up.

when i took off the stock head, i pulled the timing belt off. i hate to mess with the belt tensioner, only becuase they have a tendancy to break, or the spring looses its tension. it is definatly a short belt. i do not want to torque the tensioner anymore, only because i run the risk of stripping the bolt hole.

i ran into the same problem with mine when done that combo. you have to use the belt for the y8 head, you'll also need the plug wires for the y8 head also.
later,
