So if I just left it dangling would it throw a code? I dont get what it does.

 

go to radio shack and get a 3.3k resister pull the nipple part of the air sensor off and place one end of the resistor in one hole and the other end in the other hole. it basiclly tells the ecu everythings hunkydory. Ive had mine like that for 3 years and it runs fine sounds weird but it works

 

You SHOULD use the sensor it's there for a reason.
