B16 bottom ends are wholly substandard due to piston speeds from too high a RS ratio, lack of displacement, and because they are the homosexual's engine of choice.

Comparing stock B rods is splitting hairs They aren't that much different in size. You're dealing with stock rods that only handle so much power, and implementation (displacement, piston speed, etc) is what carries the day.

I've gotten a few issues resolved since then, and happy to say I'm back up towards the high end of 20's to low 30 mpg. It's kinda hard to tell though when you bring your car to 8k on almost every take off. :P I'm def. not easy on my motors. So, that being said, I'm currently building an LS bottom end to replace the b16a bottom for over the winter. Having no torque absolutely blows where I live in PA

damn, something is up with washington's zc and b16 drivers. I ------- pull on every sinlge ------- zc, sohc and dohc, and any b16. From a roll that is , my tq pwns. from a dig, a will barely beat a b16 hatch. dohc zc's dont even have a chance(i raced a dohc zc HF, i left him like no other).

b18+boost=sex if tuned right.

Not to quote HT but on the highest horsepower on a stock block thread the B16's top 10 is way above the LS. The B16 r/s ratio is made to rev, it's on purpose. The rods are thicker, and stronger than the LS and with a stock LS head how much of a powerband are you going to have when you're revving to 7K or 7.2K?

Peak hp before flying to pieces is nice. However, did you ever compared longevity of a 300 whp LS to a 300 whp B16? It's about the same.

Get this through your head: headflow means jack ---- in a compressor-limited forced induction car, unless the head flow so poorly it shoves you vertically off your compressor map. Which, with an LS, is around 750 whp. You making 750 whp, son? :1
