Default Crank Pulley Bolt...Got that ******!

Hey guys, need some suggestions here. I am trying to do a water pump/timing belt change on a 91 4dr. I cannot get the damn crank pulley bolt off. I am using a big IR compressor and the 1/2" IR 2135Ti impact gun and this ****** will not budge. I have hit it with a torch for a while and then back to the gun but to no avail. This is pissing me off, my buddy just used the exact same tools last night to pull off the crank pulley on his Z6, but this 189K mile d15 is being a serious bitch. Anybody have a tried and true method for hard to remove crank pulley bolts

my friend takes the oil pan off and puts a rubber mallet between the crank and block.
for a wedge.

if it has the hexagon inset, there's a special tool to use... otherwise, if you have a flywheel holder tool, you could pop the transmission off...

just find some way to jam the crank, and get a really long cheater bar/snipe, and hammer near the end of the handle. vibrations are a great way to break bolts loose.

Well< I finally got that focker. I went and got a chain/strap wrench and wrapped it around the pulley and let the crank rotate till the handle of the strap wrench was up against the axle. THEN I made a support to hold up the end of the extension that was 18" away from the bolt (ya know, to clear the fender) this was when I put pressure on the breaker bar, it would be purely rotational force instead of rotational and downward force. Snapped my 18" breaker bar onto the extention and then put the 5 foot pipe extension over the breaker bar. I held the whole contraption stable while my buddy put on the pressure and POP!! she came loose. So yea, three hours wasted on that and I finally got the new water pump and timing belt on. Thanks for your input fellas.

hope you replace that front crank seal if you got that front crank pulley bolt hot like that...

Must have a small compressor or a really long compressor line that isnt to big in diameter. I get those ******* off everytime.

Ya know, after I realized I was gonna have to use the torch I really wish I had ordered the seal like I was planning, but I don't think I ever got it hot enough to damage it....time will tell. Yea, I was bitching to my buddy that we need to get a better air hose....the gun was attached to a a 50' 3/8" ID hose. We have 3/4" hardline running from the compressor and it's not small, well, I don't think it's small. LOL. I don't remember the model, but it was a little over $1100. Man, you should have seen the way the extension was twisting right before it popped loose.. I thought it was going to snap.

I'm doing the same thing at my buddies house right now. Too bad I don't have a chain wrench.

I was helping my Dan do this and we had a wrench with a nut welded to it to put in the crank pulley and had a nice long extension to clear the fender and the put like 8ft pipe on the end of the wratched and the wrench tool hit the ground and then lifted the car up we eventually got it but damn thing was a pain, we were messing with it for hours before we borrowed the wrench from a friend and it still was a pain, now if I could only get my crx one out
