Ok so my EACV has been actin up for a couple weeks now where it would idle up an down but then the other day it started going haywire. I would be coming to a stop an have it in neutral an the engine would spin up to like four grand an stay there for a few. Now just last night the car would idle fine but when you press the gas it just starts to sputter but the ecu gives me a code 14. I drove the car home an it would be ok til like three grand an it would start to sputter so I had to keep shifting gears constantly to make it home. I replaced my EACV this morning an reset my ecu but it still sputters an still is throwing a code 14 with the check engine light. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!

 

how did you reset the ecu?
does it not rev beyond 3000rpm?
doubly sure you connected it back up once you replaced it?

 

this could be alot of things.... just cuz the ecu says one thing, other things can affect the way your car acts.

1.) your tps could be need to be replaced.
2.) your dizzy could be taking a ----.
3.) the iacv you changed was no good
4.) there could be a short in the wire that leads to the iacv.

all of these are things that have made my cars run like ---- but have given a diffent code of what was wrong in example code:14

yea it feels like it is around 3 to 4 grand but I cant tell cause I dont have a tach right now

 

well when I reset my ecu I always take out the ecu an the hazard fuse for five minutes

 

disconnect the ground from the battery for 2-3 minutes and you will clear the codes. od say check the dizzy as far as your idling goes.

 

i have a 91 civic dx i put a 93 civic vtec head on i rewired everything for mpfi i got the car to run it idles fine no check engine light but i get a code 14 i take it for a ride and it starts to sputter and then the check engine light comes on i reset the ecu start it up and it runs fine it only comes on when i drive the car please help! i ran out of ideas
