Default Carburated. (on z6)

My buddy just got a SOHC zc that he is gunna put into his 92 hatch, it came with the carb intake mani (for 2 carbs) and a vac advanced dizzy.

well, i was thinkin about takin the intake mani and doing a carburated d16z6 with a t25 and fmic, crushed dsm bov. ya know the standard cheap *** dsm turbo kit. on a z6.

the motor is still out of the car but saving for a clutch and turbo right now, then droppin it all in. Was gunna run it stock and break in the clutch, then boost with crome, then figure out how to go carb. what kinda carbs should i go with (weber's i like, since i use to do air cooled VW stuff)

so yeah. HELP ME!!!!

if you did it carbed you would have to use the vac advance dizzy and convert the carbs to blow through style carbs, and you couldnt tune it "properly" and it wouldnt be nearly as fast as it would be fuel injected, so its a gay idea and you suck...

have you ever heard of bisimoto? getting into the very bottom of the 10s with a d-series all motor on carbs?! or that top fuel dragsters use carborateds.

yeah tuning is harder, but can be done, and you get more power at WOT. also it can be better for milage. so yeah, im not the dumb one, you are for not doing any research before having info.

oh, and bisi is currently running a f22 all motor with carbs in an Insight.

Well sence these guys don't know ---- about anything other then what everyone else is doing. I found a turbo setup very easy to tune. The only real secert is, you have to raise fuel pressure with boost. Carbs don't run at idle with a more then 2-5 psi of fuel pressure. And they go lean at 2-3 boost pressure. So you set the fuel pressure at 3 psi and run a 1 to 1 regulator.

232 whp in third with a EW4 1.5 liter. With a TE04H small *** turbo. Prefect air-fuel curve.

Randy
PS I am selling this old setup!

your wrong. lots of drag cars use carbs, but not top fuel cars.

you are right about hte other ---- though. i still like EFI more though. its what i know and what i can tune. i can make a carb run right, but never tried making power with them

sweet. thanks man, i read a lil on that truck thread. (main pic) but yeah, wanted some more info on the set up for carbs.

since im gunna run side drafts, wasn't sure...

top fuel run them cuz FI aren't really quick enough for the engine. also, you always get more power out of WOT.

i have a EFI car, now i want carburated for the fun of it...

iceracercrx: its not that its you cant do it ..its just that the resources are easier to come across...i had a rx7 with dual webbers i was going to run a blow through set up until my front seal went bad...its just float levels are a bitch if you mess them up...i learned alot from that car ..anyway its more common to see efi boosted cars and parts arent cheap..if you have time on your hands and know alot about carbs have fun if not just do what everyone else is doing..just my opinion

if your going to follow through with the project make sure you post it up..im interested in the set up
