Actually its not too far fetched. Carbon fiber isn't that difficult to work with. Its $37.50 a yard (50" by 36") of 4x4 twill weave 8.3 oz carbon fiber. 5 gallons of 1:3 epoxy hardner is $172.50. I made a carbon fiber center section (between the taillights of a 90' civic) and its not that hard. Carbon Fiber is a cloth and it can be shaped. Also you don't need to paint it so compared to a paintjob its not that expensive.

I'm planning on doing my civic in 4x4 twill weave black carbon with 2x2 twill woven red carbon fiber and I estimated everything to cost about $1000. To me carbon fibering the whole car is cheaper than a paintjob and I can lean up against the car without denting it

If you invest in a vaccum bagger (or make one) you can carbon fiber anything with ease as long as you have a mold

You can't take of the roof and put a new carbon fiber roof or the doors?? you would need to do a lot of chopping.
If the boy want to have a civic look like a full carbon fiber body than waht Whitey said is the way to do it, but a reallllllllll fool carbon fiber body...that is only possible with a tube chassis frame.

Re:Carbon fiber

whitey why would you do that...just adding a shitload of weight

Re:Carbon fiber

In case everyone forgot, hondas are UNIBODY. The only way to do this without making all your new carbon fiber panels joints crack on your first turn is to have a tube chassis. Also, there is no cheap way to bond carbon fiber to any sheetmetal that can take any structual loads, which a unibody must do.

Re:Carbon fiber

The only thing you could really replace is the fenders, doors, hood, hatch and bumpers. I wanted to do it to my Civic becuase I just wanted it to look good and plus I wanted to run wider fenders. Also I thought it would look alot better than just a paintjob.

Its not that much weight, if you ever actually used the stuff you'd know.

Re:Carbon fiber

i have used it to some extent, and from your post it seemed like you wanted to cover the whole car (cheaper than a paintjob)...my mistake
