Car acting funny, RICH but knocking?

Re: Car acting funny, RICH but knocking?
Ok, so far I see two things...that little red nipple you're talking about usually has some sort of cap on it, big round black plastic piece. That's the solenoid for your evap canister. Second thing I see is the vaccum line that's coming off the throttle body...usually that's a low vaccum source. And seeing that your map sensor is also T'd inline to that vaccum T, switch it to a different vaccum source, like one towards the end of the intake manifold. I'll bet you as soon as you do that, you won't be running nearly as rich. Because it's a low vaccum source, the map sensor thinks your at almost full throttle. And you're probably getting the code 1 because your o2 sensor is getting clogged full of fuel and burning out.

alrighty then, well thanks
i'll do that tomorrow and let ya know how it goes
edit: oh and which "end" of the intake manifold should I plug the new map sensor line into, cyl 1 or 4 end?

Re: Car acting funny, RICH but knocking?
well it's finally fixed and running awesome
main problem was that after the last time i messed with the timing belt, i lined everything up using the ignition timing marks rather than the single line for TDC. just to make sure I stuck a 3/8 extension in cyl one and waited for it to get as high as it would, I was one tooth off which is probably 10 to 15 degrees which explained what i thought was the knocking noise
thanks for helping a dumbass out :1
car runs like a fucken champ now, and you will soon get to see the "J-pipe" HF manifold adapter in action, woot-woot
