Jeff Frank says they are good for up to 15K miles worth of power.

They fail, stock or boosted.

 

So, it is a good idea to swap in a z6 pump? I'm putting together my boost setup and would like to know.

 

All the local dealer techs say they fail pretty regularly in stock form.

 

That sucks. Coming from JD and Jeff... I think I'm gonna have to believe it.
I already bought an extra tapped y8 pan.... Too many parts I gotta resell and replace... argh!

btw, If it's still touchy, just ignore this.
But I wanna start tuning soon, b4 I put the turbo in so I can get my idle and off-boost smooth.
Is there any chance you can send me some background on what you found on the y8 timing. I wanna get my base as close as possible.

heh no war, I'm interested. I need to find out where my oil is leaking from before I turbo also, the car doesn't leak at a stop or burn oil, but every time i change oil there's usually only a quart or two left. I guess I'll replace the oil pump too.

 

yeah i've heard mixed opinions on this too, however i was under the impression that you only need the Z6 when you're looking for more than 200hp. Mine has been fine and i beat the mudafuckin **** outta my engine. Unless i just got a weird one.

Yes, it does. It's a question of resonant frequency/harmonics. Frequency stays the same, but amplitude goes up with power.
