i drive turbo fords mostly merkurs. point is i don,t know honda. this dude is selling a 91 civic si with what he said is a 94 d-sol 1.6 vtech block and head. i know of the mimi-me(head swap) but does the engine bolt to the 91 si tran? and the car was quick but how do you tell when the vtech kick in i had been told 5500rpm but during the test drive i wa doing like 75-80 in third at maybe 4700rpm if i rember correct. help he selling cheap.

 

well first of all you are in the wrong place you should in hybird tech. yes you can put a del sol motor in a 91 civic with a cable tranny crx. but the right way would be running obd1 wire harness. if not he ------ rig the disturber on the head. the way you can tell if it has vtec if there a vtec soldnor behind the head next to the disturber. it should be connect with a green connector. if it has it then vtec should be control be rpm activator or vafc. check those things

 

he said he change it from obd0 to obd1 with the del-sol ecu.next time i look at it i will check for the soldnor. thanks alot

 

also check the engine code# it is between the tranny and exhaust header on the front of the block on a flate plate.
it should read d16z6, if it says d16a6 then its the stock Si motor.

 

in ordeer for it to be a del Sol SI it has to either have the D16Z6 or the D16Y8. If its a D16a6 its a del Sol S SOHC non-VTEC.
