Default building motor to handle high compression?

well, i got my B16 recently and i wanted to get higher compression. im thinkin of makin it like 11.5:1 or somewhere around there. i was just curious if i have to build it up in anyway in order for it to handle that high of compression. thanks for any help!

err uh, you're going to have to put different pistons in it. possibly a different head to make that kind of compression.

it won't make enough of a difference to require you to have aftermarket rods and what not.

agreed, you can use stock rods with high compression pistons, lot's of aftermarket pistons are around.. all the way up to 13.1

the Type-R pistons fit in dont they? Those should get you up a little bit, and still be honda quality.

Civic Type R pistons are the highest compression ratio for B-series (from the factory)

and you would only get 10.8c/r with those pistons on a b16a head and block.

For .8, maybe.. If you building an all motor car, you might as well get some nice forged high compression pistons.

yea thats the plan...is to get forged pistons. but i dont wanna get them and put them in and have my motor blow up cuz i didnt build it up to handle the compression. would i have to get like new valve springs or anything like that, headgasket? thanks for the replies!
