bent radius rods, maybe stretched?

bent radius rods, maybe stretched?
Ok, this week hasn't started off very well for me. Monday we had a little snow storm up here, and i slid my 91 CRX into a concrete barrier on my way to work. Banged into it pretty hard too. Well, after i limped it into the parking lot of my job, i've been ripping it apart for the past two days trying to fix it. So far, I bent a wheel, bent the passenger side lower control arm, and the radius rod as well. Now, my main concern is, after i put the new lower control arm on, i figured even thought the radius rod was bent, the bolt holes would still be in the general area that it should be...not so. The radius rod seems to be almost an inch longer than it should be. Do these rods stretch out at all? Or could i possibly have done even worse damage and bent the front crossmember as well? Any thoughts and ideas would be appreciated at this point in time, specially by any one who has ever owned one of these generation civic's and have had to replace these before. Thanx!

I'm so tempted to at this point...kill 2 birds with one stone. Only problem for now is, the car sits at my job in the parking lot, and i need to get it back to my house in order to do anything major to it. And i can't really drive it without that radius rod lol

Re: bent radius rods, maybe stretched?
I can get the radius rods no problem here, i just hope that the crossmember isn't bent so i can put the new one on and get this beast home lol Man, talk about puttin a damper on my turbo project BTW...do radius rods stretch under alot of force?

Re: bent radius rods, maybe stretched?
I can't see them stretching. The tensile strength(pulling for those who don't know) for a cheap steel is 52000psi. I don't think yours see that service load.

well, i checked out the bushings, they actually look brand new. I'm starting to think more and more that i did bend the crossmember too. Would really suck tryin to change that in a parking lot :P

Re: bent radius rods, maybe stretched?
well, I've so far replaced the ENTIRE front end suspension on both sides of the car. The verdict is in: frames bent badly. Because of the lowering spring kit the previous owner put on there, the driver's side sits at -5 degrees negative camber, and the passenger side now sits at +12 degrees. I even tried to see if i could change the toe in to something driveable, but all i could do was drive it home and park it. Next step, strip it down and swap everything to a 89 hatchback that i've decided is more worth the time and aggravation. Thanx for all your imput, i'll hafta post up some pics of the hatchy when i get it
