ok first thigns first. im not a idiot, worked on many cars yadda yadaa. but im a ford guy LOL *yeah now call me a ididit*

friend of mine has a 00 civic coupe. the d16 in it is toast. lack of oil dont help bearings....
anyways long story short.

want to swap in a b18b motor and trans our of a rs or gs dont remember.

does anyone have access to a parts list and or a write up? thanks for your time.

i think this sums it up well. if you search here you should find some more, b20 vtec has some info too. Its mostly just mounts, few wires on the ecu, knock sensor and vtec wiring depending on the donor car and the motor linkage and axles.

nevermind change of plans.... his neighbor gave him a high milage d16y8 and im pretty sure that's whats in it now 00 civic si coupe.

all he does it autocross, wants no crazy power, hes happy with 150+160 whp..... if you can private message to disscuss we can.. im a welder as is him, so i htink might fab up some itbs for something to do. would like higher comp whats your input?

an SI changes everything.

the 00 SI came with a B16. DOHC vtec. if you put a b18b in there and use the stock ecu, it will throw codes for vtec stuff. if you use an obd2 teg ecu or chip his ecu and disable vtec then it would work. you could also put the b16 head on the b18 block and pretty much be fine. a little more fuel would be good, but it should run fine.

putting the y8 in there should be pretty simple but using the stock ecu, it will probably run a bit rich. not a ton cause they are both 1.6L but the b16 head flows a lot more than the d16 head.

any chance the car is an 00 ex? then the y8 is what they come with.

its a canadian SI so it had a d16y8. in canada sir and typer civic had the b16

the canadian sir had the b16, the cdn si had a d16... and i heavent seen any type r civics in canada but mehhhh
