Re:B16A1 in EG
When I say B16A2, I mean any JDM/USDM B16 that is OBD2 92-00, that is what most online places that sell them mean too.

Re:B16A1 in EG
pssst.
92-95 = obd1 96+ = obd2 ;) |
Re:B16A1 in EG
I know, but in Japan and as far as the USDM B16's go, the B16A2 was in cars from 92-00. The 92-93's came with cable tranny's off of the integra XSi and are 170 hp. The B16A2's with hydro trannys were OBD2 I guess and JDM had 170 hp, USDM 160 hp. Another complication with the A2 would be a cel. Wouldn't you get a cel for not having a downstream O2 sensor, Do people that put the OBD2 B16A2 in OBD1 cars always get cels?
|
Re:B16A1 in EG
No, because they wouldnt use a OBD2 ecu :) Plus you can eliminate those o2 cel/mil's real easy anyway should be be a big enough crackpot to convert you OBDI vehicle to OBDII
Also hydro B series trannys have been around a lot longer than 96+ I have no idea when the first showed up, but way before that. I would assume right around when the EG's came to be. |
Re:B16A1 in EG
what the hell does all that mean! lol
first off. ALL b16 motors in japan are known as B16A nothing else. JDM.. 92-93 teg Xsi = b16a obd1 cable trans 89-91 crx/civic sir = b16a obd0 cable trans 92-95 civic = b16a obd1 hydro trans 96+ civic = b16a obd2 hydro trans USDM.. 93-95 del sol = b16a3 obd1 hydro trans 96-97 del sol = b16a3 ond2 hydro trans 99-00 civic si(r) = b16a2 obd2 hydro trans EDM.. ---- THAT. |
Re:B16A1 in EG
Thanks for the info, ideally, I would like an OBD1 B16 JDM because they have more hp anyway, but that isn't going to happen. Wouldn't I use a P30 or P28 OBD2 ECU for the SIR2 B16 in Japan (OBD2) or the USDM B16A2? Or as Gimpycivic said before, could I just chip my own ECU, then buy a B16A2 or JDM B16 SIR2 and hydro tranny and be done with it?

Re:B16A1 in EG
I'm going to lay this out real plain like: stick-with-the-obd-your-car-was-built-with-in-this-case. If you intend to use a OBDI or II B16A, you're in good shape. All you need to do then is add a few small things to your P06 to allow it to control VTEC and socket the ECU. Then you can just plop in a P30 program and disable the knock. It will lack a knock sensor, but Hondas knock sensors blow dick anyway. If its an OBDII engine, dont matter.. just means you wont be using the CKF sensor and a couple other things that dont matter.
Please stop confusing yourself! :D |

Lay it down brother, lay it down. :D

Re:B16A1 in EG
let me put this down KINDERGARDEN style....
1-buy any b16 you want..obd0,1,2,3,4,5 whatever 2-buy a hydro B series trans. the one from your car(civic dx) WONT FIT 3- your stock wiring harness WILL fit on..with little mods for some wires and extra wires 4-IF the motor comes with mounts, they will GO RITE IN. no mount kits needed. your stock driver mount and rear bracket will fit...only the B series tran mount will be needed. 5- buy a obd1 distributor. 6- buy a shift linkage from a 94+ integ 7- use axles from a 94+ integ 8- you can use a p28, p30, p72 ecu...as long as they are OBD1. but be warned...power diff is major from the 3. also...the p72 requires extra sensors. i think this covers most of it...now..was that easy....oh yeah............2400 will get you a FULL HYDRO b16 swap..let me know if you want that. im in cal....makes things easier. i hope this helps |
