B16A1 in EG

What would be the process involved in putting an older B16, they're OBD0 right? into my 94 DX civic? I know I would have to convert my hydraulic tranny to cable right? Also, would I need motor mounts. This is probably a repost, but I looked and couldn't find anything about it.

Alright, I can answer some of my own questions, yes I would need motor mounts, now my question is how hard would it be converting my car to OBD0? not hard I guess because the engine comes with an ECU so, my car would then be OBD0? Alright, thanks for any clarification you can give.

1.) Keep the hydro tranny! You don't need to goto a cable trans. Any hydro b series tranny will work for ya.

2.) You're going to need mount kit. These are like anywhere from 350-475 depending on who you get them from, and who made them.

3.) You're going to need a OBDI distributor. YOU DO NOT, REPEAT DO NOT want to reverse engineer your car to OBD0.

4.) You have a DX, which means a P06 is running your car. You can easily add the hardware on it to make it VTEC capable and chip the ECU to run your B16 purrrrrfectly :)

It's always been my opinion this is a BIG WASH unless you're getting the B16A1 *FREE* or NEAR Free. By the time you scrounge the mounts and a distributor.. you've got a lot of the cash you coulda just got the proper long block.

The tranny I wont include in the price because if you only had a long block, you needed one anyway.

Just my opinion anyway.. maybe I'm way off base.

no that was pretty good gimpy... anyways you will need all of the above.. but if your just getting the b16a1 motor then just get a hydraulic transmission seperately... the engine has nothing to do with what kind of transmission you use as either cable or hydraulic can be used but in your case use the b16. www.jdmshit.com has your mount kit for 300$ or so... hcp mounts. Lastly dont bother converting to obd 0 as its just your distributor that would need to be changed.. if anything do the ecu conversion for like 150$ and itll plug right into that obd0 ecu... best bet would be to sell that ecu and find an obd1 ecu

Alright, so I should buy a B16A1 OBD0 engine, buy an OBD1 ECU, and a hydro tranny, all separate? Would an EX, or DX ECU, (92-95) work for the B16? Would the EX tranny work?

nonvtec... just buy a b16a2 full swap man.. the one from a del sol that will come with an obd1 ecu.. everything will drop and plug right in with a mount kit and conversion wire harness at the ecu

Re:B16A1 in EG

Right, the B16A2 is way easier and I know it bolts right in and what not. I probably will. But the B16A1 is almost a 1000 bucks cheaper. You can't blame me for trying. :-\

I know what you mean nonvtec.
Here a B16A1 full swap except the mounts is about $1600 and a B16A2 full swap except the mounts is $3600.
:( for that kinda money i wouldn't mind getting the B16A1 and do a hydro to cable conversion. And here there aren't much hydro tranny's haven't seen one for sale since i lived here they are kinda scares here.
