Re:b16a help
ok today i located the leak ive got a y21 (gsr) tranny and the leak is comming from the passenger side there is like a bolt the size of a quarter but is isnt a bolt its more like a plug and i tightened it but its still leaking it has to be turned with a square key.... anyone know what this is??? can anyone reccomend a sealent for it
thanks |
Re:b16a help
That "Square key" is your tranny oil drain, Sounds like the crush washer is bad, go to your local dealer and ask them for a tranny oil drain washer, you will have to drain/fill your trans fluid, but its more than likly what is leaking. (that square key, is also 3/8th drive)

Re:b16a help
What else would it be dude? all B/D - series trannys have a 3/8th square drain plug on the bottom of the transmissions. with a crush washer, if you pulled it out, and nothing came out, you have some serious issues. You need to drain it completely and refill it (with MTF or 10-30). Throw a new crush washer/gasket after you replace the fluid.
If you think the fluid is leaking between the 2 cases, you will need to remove the trans and split the case, and use honda bond to seal it up. (very unlikly) Jeff |
Re:b16a help
its on the side of the transmission right in front of my axle and there it no washer
its just a brass plug...where do i check for tranny fluid on a gsr tranny?? |
Re:b16a help
wait wait, there was white fluid mixed with your oil in the tranny? that is water in your tranny if it happened that way.

Re:b16a help
You are looking at the wrong end of the tranny, that is to gain access to the sea-clip that holds the upper case in order. If its leaking on that end, it could easily be an tranny axle seal.
