Whats the difference between a b18 or a b16 for 98 civic. I want to turbo it but i dont know what engine is better. horse power, torque?

 

first off, a 98 civic in 99 or 2000 came with a obdII b16a2. Any integra other than first gen has a b18. you could put almost any b series head on any b series block. most ls/vtec conversions are ussually b18b1 or b18b2 blocks with b18c or b16a heads on top. your civic came with a d16, i would get a complete b16a2 and call it an si.

 

b16a2 = 160hp 111tq
b18b = 140hp 13xtq

b16 has more or less the same as your d16 (current engine)

b18 you wont have to rev so much to keep up with traffic, has 130 something torque

 

if a b16 has 160 hp, theres no way its more or less the same as my d16. my d16 only has around 120 to 125.

 

IF your talking about B18C1 VTEC and B16A vtec motors...the B18C1 is A better motor. the B18C1 has a much more broad power curve..making the car feel faster meaning you are making more power 2k-8k. yeah.. the b16a and the b18c1 are only 10 horses apart on paper..and are similar at the track..but the b18c1 is a better all around motor.BUT b16a are good too..they have the same head cast as a integra type R and they dont have the gay duel stage intake system. So u can easily upgrade to a TYPE R intake manifold if you wanted.
