Re:Anyone every use phantom lsd?
The phanton is a POS. the weak link in honda diffs are the spider gears. the phanton does not replace the weak spiders or the stock diff pin. Infact it puts MORE stress on the spiders by locking them up creating a LSD. The reason they somewhat work is by evening the hp output to both wheels. People blow up stock diffs because of the one wheel wonder. Take all the HP you have and unload it on one wheel...get my drift?
Go with an OBX for the price. If you can afford it get a Quaife for street/strip or a Kaaz for auto-x.

Re:Anyone every use phantom lsd?
the phantom does not lock up the spider gears. it mearly puts preasure on the 2 spider gears creating enough friction to try and keep the two spider gears spinning at close to the same speed. thats a crappy explanation but the phantom works best in cornering. normally when one wheel starts to slip, all the power goes to that one wheel, with the phantom it puts preasure on both gears so that it doesnt think its slipping at all. in a high impact\load situation like launching with slicks, the phantom doesnt do so well cause something has to give and its the phantom. only because its not geared to the spiders it just pushes against them. so yea they work ok. i had one in my del sol w/b16 and it was allright but i could tell the difference from my buddys integ type r. i also had one on my race car and it sucked, kinda. i would get one wheel peel bout 1 out of 3 launches (there all on video so i checked after each run) and then i got ahold of some stiffer springs from phantom and never had a one wheel peel after that. but i was told that the stiffer springs were not for road race only for drag race. i could see an exploding diff with the stiff springs.

The PG cause excessive wear on the shims behind the drive spiders. Once they wear out you have excessive side clearance......then diff goes BOOM.

Re:Anyone every use phantom lsd?
better, less, but still can explode the spiders. The heat from welding will weaken them and they be subject to stress fracture.
Go OBX at the min., or a spool for drag race only. I'm working on a 90-93 LS Richmond spool into 88-00 40mm case. Richmond Gear doesn't wanna help though.
