i was inspecting my alternator and i saw black rubber dust looking like under the pulley does that mean that the belt is loose

 

why the ---- did you feel it was important to take something out of a thread you already had and start another thread with it?

to answer your question ...have you checked the belt itself to see if maybe its too tight and you are chewwing it up?
