A6 block/ head with OBD1 ECU questions.
So i been been helping this guy out with a build for almost 2 years and i am now deciding on wehter to keep it OBD0 or go With OBD1.
The engine is a ZC ( SOHC ) block with vitaras and H beams along with a A6 head. I could stay OBD0 and hope that everything runs fine but since im not very experienced with tuning i though of having him take it to someone to have that done. Most tuners i think prefer OBD1 programs like chrome, Ectune Etc etc...
So my question is, can we run a non vtec OBD1 dizzy on an Non vtec OBD0 head? if so what matches up to the head? i thin i remember running a Y8 head with a A6 dizzy when i use to run the 1 wire vtec on TE. not sure how this works in the reverse mode with a OBD1 dizzy and a non vtec obdo head.

Can't you just swap the internals? I did that with a OBD2 dizzy on a OBD1 d series. Everything just unbolted and went right into place and no jerry-rigging needed. That way you get the right housing with the correct mounting footprint.

That's what I'm saying dude. take the a6 dizzy and put the b7 or b6 internals into it. Though I wanna say since their the same castings I think the nonvtec obd1 dizzy should fit on the a6 head.

OBD1/2 non-Z6 SOHC distributors are all the same, the difference is the dist plug.
Julio, my latin brother, be very careful as some D16 cams are not cut on the same index. Last A6 I tried to tune I had to add ~20 degrees timing into the maps to get the base timing correct. You really need to shine a timing light on the engine out of the gate.
