Default 99 si (b16a2) into a 93 del sol si

Hey,

Ive gotten some mixed directions on this swap. Ive been emailing Jerome Soh at Sohfast.com and he states that after I get the complete swap kit for the 99 si, I would need to get and intake manifold from a 94-95 del sol for the obd2 to obd1 issue and an ecu from a 94-95 del sol VTEC so the INSIDE harness fits up again for the obd2 to obd1 issue.

Anyone do this swap or something close to it that might point me in some kind of non-confusing direction as to what I might need and not need??!!

thanks alot!

well, you pretty much got it you will need an obd1 ecu out of a del sol with a b16 or a jdm one so it will plug in to your existing harness, and you can actually more than likely use the obd1 intake manifold, the only sensors on it are the tps, map, and iacv, and the obd1 plugs for those sensors, are the same as the obd2 ones. i've had an obd1 b series and i have a 00 si with an obd2 b16, so i know this. you will need an obd1 b series dizzy (distributor), and injectors, other than that, everything should plug up. you will have to run wires to the ecu for the knock sensor (your stock harness won't have a plug for this) and maybe for vtec also (i'm not too familiar with del sols). good luck.

So this swap isnt as straight forward as everyone says??

So im pretty much getting this info from everone so far:

1. Need a 94-95 del sol VTEC ecu
2. Need to keep the old intake manifold even though the plugs are the same on the obd 2 harness?
3. obd1 b-series inj. and dist!
4. Run some wires from the ECU?

Number 2 sounds a little fuzzy. One reason is cause Ill have to drive to whoever i sold it to on eBay and beat their *** for it! There is no way to use the new int. man.?

Number 4 - b series ecus come with a knock sensor, no? So im good if i get that 94-95 del sol VTEC ecu.

One more thing, am I able to use the new OBD2 harness or should I keep my old harness around just for kicks?

Thanks alot! I shoulda just came here first!

this whole post is full of ----.

you have a del sol Si. Use your p28 ECU with the b16a2 intake manifold and injectors and distributor. it will work fine.

the only thing you'll need to do is get the p28 chipped with b16 maps, which cost about $20 for a chip off ebay, or you can have someone make you one.

beats the hell out of paying all kinds of money for ---- you dont need.

Then what would be the difference in chipping my ecu or getting the 94-95 del sol VTEC ecu and not worry about ------- mine up? That ecu already has the b16 maps cause its for a b16a3 which is in that year del sol VTEC.

oh, i didn't see that it he had a del sol si, so yeah, you could just chip your current ecu to run a b16 map, or swap it out for one for a b16 (whichever you feel would be easier), i tell you one thing though, i sure as hell wouldn't buy a chip off of ebay, you may as well bend over, now for your new questions.

1. we just addressed that above
2. no, you don't need you old intake mani, just swap the engine in with the obd2 intake mani on it, the sensors will plug up fine.
3. you can use any obd1 honda injectors (as in the ones out of your current engine will be fine), they are all 240cc.
4. you will have to run wires for your knock sensor (a sensor that is on b series vtec engines), you don't have to use the knock sensor, but you may as well since you have it, and actually, i don't think there is a pin out on the p28 for a knock sensor, so if you do, you will have to get a different ecu.

yeah, if you want to ensure that it runs perfectly the way honda intended it to, then you should just get the ecu (not sure which one it is) from the del sol vtec

when ever doing an engine swap, ALWAYS use the original harness for the car

Oh.. alright then!! Stick that little goodie in my back pocket.

So pretty much the only thing I need is the new ecu and the old injectors?

And the thing about all the obd2 crap on the new engine; they will just be running in an obd1 state?
