i picked up an 86 carbed rex on sat and it was running fine on a huge *** truck battery during the test drive. when i left the dudes house it popped a fuse by the left tower so he pulled me home. went to the auto store and picked up 6 fuses at a buck a piece rated for 55-65 amps and when i put em in all i have to do is connect the battery and they pop in my face WTF. i went thru ll six in like 5 minutes. dont know much about chassis electrical but do i need more grounds?

OK so i have a short, is that when two raw wires are touching eachother ?

 

Uhhh yeah something like that. Two wires that shouldn't be touching. Does it fry all the fuses or just some? If it's only specific ones, check the wiring for those components...

 

it has only three fuses under the hood and it fries the one that powers the whole ------ car. its as if the car has no battery. its just that fuse which is the highest rating and comes straight from the battery.

 

Check all your wiring and connections to your battery, alternator, and starter. There's probably a short to one of those.
