86 Prelude Swap and Turbo

Re:86 Prelude Swap and Turbo
Yeah, if you drive a civic with a d16 or d15 its like night and day, that lude si engine has much more torque. The good thing about that engine is that its really tough, so if you wanted to, you could use the stock rods (shotpeeened) and forged pistons and already have an nearly indestructable bottom end if you put it together with good aftermarket fasteners. As you may know, its the same engine as the 86-87 accord and very similar to the 88-89 accord (lxi only)so www.3geez.com and www.accordcentral.com have some info on going turbo with that engine

Re:86 Prelude Swap and Turbo
Youd be far better off with a 88 civic hatch or coup, since you have a better selection of engines.
The 91's arnt all that popular because they came with anouther oddball engine that doesnt work to well (wasnt it the b20?) I think the 91 si even had some kind of goofy attempt at 4ws too...

Re:86 Prelude Swap and Turbo
ahhh stay away from 88-91 ludes, especially the s, those carbed ones always run like ----. The 88-91 have the b20a5 and the b21a1 i think. If youre going to go turbo then the 86 would be better especially since parts are soo cheap, also b20 i hear has weak ring lands and liners too...
