6 puck unsprung on a DD?
Is anyone running a 6 puck unsprung disk on a DD? I just got an act HD pressure plate with the 6 puck unsprung disk for my 2000 civic si and Im a little worried about how rough its going to be for everyday driving. Would I be smart to switch out to like a performance disk or something?

Re: 6 puck unsprung on a DD?
Yes that would be very unwise. I have friends who have done it, but they never enjoyed it. I would go with an organic performance full-face. I had a exedy stg 1 organic clutch on my LS, and it was still kinda hard to drive in traffic, but it was MUCH smoother than any 6 puck clutch engagement I've experience in a Honda performance oriented clutch.

alright thanks. Is there any other options for disks I could go with besides ACT brand? Like would an Exedy stage one disk work with an ACT pressure plate?

Re: 6 puck unsprung on a DD?
does it have a solid or sprung center section

Re: 6 puck unsprung on a DD?
the disk I currently have has a solid center section. Does that mean that the pressure plate can only use disks with solid center sections?

Re: 6 puck unsprung on a DD?
solid centers general have a harsher engagement more so then a sprung center

Comes down to what kind of person you are. If you can handle solid motor mounts and no ac itll be fine. if your a comfort freak the full disc

I'm running an action 2md on my hatch. It's engagement is remarkably smooth for an unsprung disk.

Drive many a friends with unsprung hubs and they actually felt pretty smooth. No back and forth spring action felt smoother in the take off. I did not get to see how well it slipped though, for nice street launches. |
