Default yay for theives =(

so, i get back up to school and there are a few people that were walking out and say "did you hear what happened?"

aside from the fact that both of them know that i left for the weekend and that now is my first few minutes of being home again, i say no.

my roomate's car (96 cavalier) was broke into over the weekend.

i showed pics of what type of garage i have.
he parks to the left of me. they went in through the passanger window.

the broke a trim piece on the dash surrounding the stereo. then instead of taking two screws out of the cd player to remove it, they pryed it out and didnt get it pulled out.

what the thieves took... nothing.

overall damage.
shattered passanger window
all bent up cd player
car was a mess inside (glass)
broken dash molding
and the insurance company will not pay for any damage cause his policy does not cover it.

the only good thing, he got the cd player to work by bending the case back out.

Around my apartment complex there was 5 or more cars that were broken into looking for cd players

now i have to be more paranoid. the gauges that i have stick out like sore thumbs on the a-pillar.

i have seen a few ideas for holding gauges, like where the stereo goes, but i am not sure what i will be doing, it makes a lot of sense to buy gauges to be able to see, boost, egt, a/f, whatever you have.. when you have to hide the dam things so they are not stolen.

so far.. i have started tinting my windows, a while back i went to walmart and they have static cling window tint, i have used 20% (rated, light visible) on the side windows and now on the back. i hope this helps to not be able to see anything. i dont want to replace parts anymore than i have

same thing happened to my cousin last time he came to visit me, they busted the window and tore up the whole trim piece that goes around the stereo trying to get it out but neglected to use a screwdriver on the two screws holding it in. bunch of dumb ***** nowadays, rule #1: always bring a phillips and wire cutters. his stereo was an eclipse anyways so it would have been worthless if they did get it, but it was fucked beyond repair from the prying and ---- so his insurance replaced it.

ya, well this tint was 12 bucks a box, 24 for the large stuff which will do the back window and a side (driver) and maybe one of the "wings" in the back. so 12 and 24.. and you get to do it yourself.. and if it looks bad, you peel it off.. spray windex and reapply.

i had it on my blazer, it looked better than than what the pros do around here.

you just have to take some time cutting and applying.

i will take some pics out of the rain and in the day to show the bubbles.

and it is from walmart, in the automotive, called "Insta Cling"

I wouldn't use anything with amonia in it. I don't remember if windex has any in it or not.

Meh, it was worth it to me to have the guarentee and no stress install. So I just payed the nominal fees.

Tint can't hurt though.
