I just picked up this 32" LCD 720p from K-mart for $477. I know your looking for Plamsa, but damn you could buy 2 of these for the same price and set the 2 side by side and have a 64" :X

Sub 42" go LCD. Above 42" go plasma unless your TV is located in a very bright room. Plasma TVs suck pretty badly in rooms with a lot of light/glare. Also someone said the contrast and colors are better on LCD. That's false. Plasma TVs typically have 10x the contrast ratio of LCDs and truer colors. Plasma's simply look better. If you are looking for a TV for your bedroom though and it's moderately sized, a 32" LCD is probably your best bet as you can easily grab one for $500 while a 42" you are looking at around $800+

The colours and contrast are actually comparable if you look at the specs between plasma and lcd but if you are looking at them side by side the colours are nicer on an lcd, in my opinion.

You're an idiot. Look at the specs.

Typical Contrast Ratio of a LCD: 1500:1. Plasma: 15000:1

Colors, not even close. Plasma is a better looking screen hands down always. People like LCD because they are like a big computer screen and don't worry about burn in. Except you get 8 m/s response time which makes video game playing ----, the color isn't true, and the picture has no depth. I'm right. You are wrong.

Show me a link to an Lcd that is around 50" that has a dynamic contrast ratio that is 1500:1.
As for the ghosting effect, your right, but read most reviews on lcd's, the first thing that consumers say is that the colours are amazing.
And take a fukin chill pill, im just trying to get the facts straight and ur facts aren't matching up to what i have read, that is why this topic is so god damn confusing because everyone says something different.

Stop going by Samsung's specs. They do theirs on a different scale. LCD vs Plasma is typically a 10x difference in contrast ratio. ----, go to the store and look at the damn screen. If you can't see the Plasma has more picture depth you are blind and should buy the cheapest TV possible. Plasma TVs always have higher contrast ratios. It's what they are known for.

Re: Where to buy Plasmas????

So why do some lcd's say 15000:1 ratio?
And so what your saying when it comes down to it, i should buy a Plasma?

Re: Where to buy Plasmas????

Lies or they are $7000+ TVs. Basically they use a different way to measure the contrast ratio calling it dynamic contrast ratio with LCDs so people think they are getting comparable color depth to plasma. Fact is, it's not true. Even with the terrible calibration in big box stores you can see the cheapest plasma TVs have more depth than LCDs.

Look at all those TVs. Most are around 1500-2000:1 contrast ratio. Dynamic contrast ratio is a lie.

I'm saying if you want the best looking picture, plasma provides it. LCD TVs have a lot of good qualities but as far as performance goes plasma is better. LCDs are just getting very cheap to make and don't have any chance of burn in which people like to know when they are buying a $1000 TV.
