O2 sensors and catalytic converters ---- themselves pretty quickly with leaded fuel. However leaded fuel is supposed to have helped the exhaust valve stems last on older engines because the lead is soft and lubricates the valve stem.

oh yeah, i forgot about the cat's getting ate up.. ---- it, none of my cars have those things so they are out of sight - out of mind.
Now the deal with the valve seals.. it's either you need hard seals to run leaded and soft for unleaded or vice versa.. I learned about it when working on an old tractor that was made for leaded, there are lots of retrofit kits for the older tractors to get them up to date with current standards.. I'll look into it later.
