What a motherfucking day...
 

CLIFF NOTES:
- I was ROBBED today, race CAR was stolen
- Within 8 hours, almost everything is recovered

So I get in my car today to go to the shop and there are 3 missed calls and 3 voicemails on my cell which I forgot in my car last night. I call the shop and they tell me the place was broken into...the till money was gone and the safe was gone as well. No alarm went off, no forceable entry...

So I am all worked up now...pissed, WTF...this is the second major theft in 2 months.

I get in to the shop, the safe is gone yes, but more importantly, the ----------ing RACE CAR is GONE!!!! Holy ----, now I knew this wasnt any import theft, all of my ECUs still there, all of my electrical and computer ---- there, none of that was touched. Whoever is was knew where the key to the car was and knew where the money spots and cigarettes were.

So luckily my alarm company keeps a log of all the alarming and disarming of the alarm and there was a disarm at 5:10 am...but no rearm until the morning guy was supposed to be there and everyone has their own number which made it pretty easy to figure it out.

He sung like a canary after being at the station for about 10 minutes...parked the car about 5 blocks away and I got all but about $1000 back.

The moral of this story is that no matter how much you think you know and can trust someone, think twice. This guy definitely had a past and he was open about that, he also worked his ass off for me and did it for very cheaply...come to find out he was working for the drug...heroin or coke. All the signs were there and I should have seen them or maybe I did but I just liked this kid too much. He took long trips to the bathroom, he was on top of the world one day and more depressed than anyone I know another. I saw him snorting up some Afrin here or there and he always claimed "dust" or "allergies."

Thankfully everything worked out and as quickly as it did...

Lesson learned, hopefully it doesnt happen again :-\

But yeah, he wont be working here...I just am still baffled about the whole thing.

It's really good to hear that you got most of your goods back. I think that you would have a WHOLE country full of HMT members huntin ---- down if it happened differently.

Glad you got most of your stuff back, that must've been a really stressful day.

You gotta keep people in check, even on the biggest profit days (your most happiest days).

I learned alot from my old boss about people management. When you're saying "I want ???? done", you have to say it so that people know they aren't allowed to ask twice what it was you wanted done. On the flip side, when someone doesn't follow the one direction you give them, you have to be able to firmly tell them you're not going to put up with it, and the key to the success is if you can do it without them getting defensive. I guess it's a freindly ------- policy I have. Only hire people for the long term, cause even the freindly guy with an after work drug habit will eventually come back on you.

Let people know when they're wrong and correct them....

But more importantly, let them know when they've done done the right thing and reinforce/congratulate it.

like everyone else, I am really glad that you got pretty much everything back.... I also know the feeling of having well over 1000$ of stuff/money being stolen

your good internal control (security system that shows who punches in the code) really saved the day!

damn Chris thats fucked up. thats something i also would never expect an employing to do. i'm glade you got most of your stuff back though, it could have been a whole lot worse..

Thanks for the good word and advice everyone...what throws 'most' of the advice out the window in this case is drugs. Yes, I knew he had a past and yes there were signs there (although I didnt know to look for them, hindsight is 20/20) but he worked his ass off for me. He would come in early, he would stay late...I tried to pay him more and he didnt want it. Him working for me allowed us to do jobs I wouldnt be able to take in, big dollar jobs...he did make me a LOT of money.

I know its nothing personal against me, I know he respected me and he would do whatever I asked him to do...it was the drugs, plain and simple and thats the sad fact. :-\

Yeah, I didn't know him much, only met him a couple times. But very friendly, people person, always willing to help, funny. It's a shame it had to happen.

It pisses me off how something like that can take control of you. Oh well, like I said in the other post, just keep looking forward Chris, that place is gonna turn into something great :6

1000 dolllars could have bought 2-3 ounces of heroin or coke, which would have lasted that crackhead a while, maybe he was selling it

yeah my parents shop got broken into twice in the past 2 years, each time all the ------ thiefs got was less than $20 of charity money we have on the front counter where you can buy a cloclate bar for $20 for charity....... stole $20 but cost us $300 to get the window replaced

drugs will ruin your life. and people will do stupid things whey need money for them

'Specially down in his area...one of my boy's lives down in Elizabeth and i can tell you that ---- is rough down there. I go down and visit him every once and a while, but every time i leave i'm kinda relieved that i'm goin...too many crackheads and dopeheads in jersey. Good luck with your ---- though Chris.
