is there a way to put a larger one in
The flip on/off thing is a breaker. I highly doubt that your wiring/plug/etc is capable of holding more than 20 amps. Keep it where it is unless you want to open a box of worms.

The actual wire and beaker its on dictacte the amperage it can hold. If you draw too many amps on a small gauge wire it will light on fire.
