For exhausts yeah, but I wouldn't do chargepipes with it. Seriously, a MIG gas welder is worth every penny over a flux. If you welded before you'd understand

Flux is a complete bitch with slag everywhere and disgusting welds. With a mig, in a Day you'll make decent welds. A mig is worth every penny over Flux. Most people who buy Flux's usually end up selling them or get discouraged cause they think welding is really hard, but in reality flux is just so sloppy

That will work fine and if you tell them you have the catalog where its 79.99 and the back cover is ripped off they will give you that price. Its 79.99 in the newest catalog.

Actually I like welding exhausts with my wire feed welder. I get some good looking beads that are strong enough for exhausts/chargepipes, and the slag spray is minimal. It's really not bad for me. It took alot of practice to get used to, and I'm sure I'd be better off with a MIG, but this does just fine for me now with what I work on.

I agree. A good weld can be laid with a flux core. I weld alot with both flux and Gas, Yes a gas looks better, but with practice some times the only difference between the welds is the slag which can be clean with a wire brush.

Just get the right settings. If you have too much wire a flux core will REALLY splater!

you can do a decent weld with flux if the wire isn't old ---- but not as nice as mig. Its much harder to learn also, flux works good in a mig if your welding outside with any kind of wind. I would save the extra scratch and go with gas you wont be sorry ;)

That flux core wire feed was the one i learned to weld on and i mean you really LEARN b/c it is a little harder than a nice mig. Even some of my buddies who own a body shop where impressed after seeing my welds that i had made using their big bad ass mig at the shop. its soo easy with a nice machine but not all of us weld enough to justify spending $600+ on a nice mig.

plus who really cares what the welds look like... thats what an angle grinder is for... check out my charge pipes on my project, ------- flawless! link in my sig.
