If your springs are too stiff, they'll wife the lobe right off the cam. I think they specially nitride coat the ones in Nascar and Rally. You might want to check it out if you're going to keep those springs.

Use 304H, -H for high carbon. It is meant for higher temps than 304L. If you can't find -H, at least get regular 304 with no suffix, it is better than -L.
