The tops/backside of the exhaust cam's VTEC lobes are ground down:

Recent reformulation of oils don't help much. The EPA had sulfur compounds removed a couple years ago, and more recently zinc. Check the current June issue of Hot Rod (I think?) for an article on cam failure from such oil, and a few oils ranked by zinc content.

But, hey, we were revving stock B16 cams to 9500. Our rationale was that hotrex wasn't man enough to, so we needed to step up and be role models.

Fuel follows torque, then 6500 tq peak sounds about right.

i still don't get how ANYONE could be scared of the stock map sensor....i mean....kasey should deff wanna run again, ya know? trav-ass > evo

Yeah the sulfur is a must-have anti-galling material for high pressure friction surfaces. Hence why gear oil has so much sulfur in it.
