ok i work at a independant service garage and one of our oil/tire guys forgot to put oil back in the car. long story short fryed rod bearing on #3. we have to replace the engine. it is a 90 toy corolla with a 1.6. i was at nippon motors website and there is a 5AFE that is a direct repacment for the origonal 4AFE. will it bolt up and are there any noticable diferances. or should i stay honest with the customer and put in the 4AFE. bc there is a 300$ diferance in the motor. with our company our mark up on our fukups is 3 times the price. so say the final price is 1000 at our cost it will realy cost us 3000. with the 5AFE i can save my boss and our company 900.



what do i do?


also a 94 probe with no power to the fuel pump. we already bypased the inerta fuel cut out. no fuel with fuel cutout and check engine light on. no start. any answers?

Don't ---- the owner over. That's not cool. You guys fucked up, so you guys need to fix it. I would flip the ---- out if I popped my hood and there was a different cheaper motor in my car after having work done at a shop. I can't believe you are even asking this.

ohhh my god this is not me. im sorry but i have pride. and i put alot of effort in it. by boss just wanted to put a new bearing cap and some bearings in it and polish the rod with emory cloth and ship it!!!!?! i was like what the ----.

the damn thing would start knocking befor the next oil change. i told him otherwise. the rod itself had a score in it about a mill deep. it had to be replaced. i told you about the three times price thing. well this job is going to cost us about 3500! and we are going to loose our mothly bonus fo about a year!!!! all bc/ a dumb fukin slob forgot to put oil in the damn car!!!! ( it would cost about the same for a rebuild(with bearings rod gaskets cap gaskets and labor)) and his damn rental!! if i see that kid!!!!!! AHHHHHHHH!!

this guy deserves whats right and the only thing i am going to say to my boss is the oe 1.6. i guess i worded my q wrong, will a jspec engine fit the chassis? it has a canada usa sticker in it. and im afraid to loose my bonus so that is why i asked about the 5AFE.


ever sinced i started turning wrenches i learned that you have to work for ur customer and againts the guys up top and the dudes up front. bc all they are looking for is the top doller. before i got stareted at the store i was warned about a timing betlt incedant and they wussed out of it. i guess i was warned. so in this situtation im going to charge the ---- out of the shop and take my percentage and love it. dude doesnt have to pay. ---- it. i guess i will have my own little bonus.


i deserve it. only the honest guy does!!!
