trying to get fit

well im no muscle bound jerk off but i like to think im decently fit. i got a decent body type (not skinny but not fat) the only thing i really feel i need help with is my lower torso. like abs and lovehandle area. no matter what i do i cannot get tighter down there. i try to eat healthy but no matter what i cannot tighten up. i have two ab machines at my house i use them both. i feel the burn when on them but i never see a result do you guys know if those little electric belts that stimulates your muscles work at all, or any other method of loosing fat below your chest. i dont like to take pills so i dont want a diet pill or creatine or anything like that. what has worked for you guys

If you don't like running, try to get into riding bikes. Also, morning if you can. You'll be energized for the rest of the day.

I use to run 4 miles 3+ times a week when I was still in school. I was a very lean 140-150 when I was18- 21. I was always sick and strength wise it wasnt really there. Im a little over 200 pounds now and pretty sure I can rip peoples arms off now. Losing weight isnt always a great idea.Once you get older your body will naturally gain weight its just life. I curl crankshafts and lift 100+pound packages daily for my workout.

I run into this also. After awhile I hit a wall where exercising hurts my strength and ability to focus. It's called over training and some people are more susceptible to it than others. It depends on your body's recovery time, how much sleep you get, distance between workouts, your diet, etc.

As long as you keep active and start phasing out fatty foods in your 30s you will tend to gain weight, but not develop a gut or anything extreme. The 30s are where you have your biggest muscle mass.

Why would anyone listen to this man, he thinks the rogaine that he is taking(and scamming me out of pics) has caused him to gain 10lbs. Appearantly its been real sunny in WNC.

And to add some actual content to the thread, i'm going back to the gym, i have this habit of losing 20-30 lbs from jan to august or so, get sick of working out and eating right, then realize i like food, eat like a sumo wrestler, and put all the weight back on. Avoid that. The key is moderation, eat in moderation, exercise in moderation, and you'll be losing weight in no time.

Re: trying to get fit

I hate running, and I hate riding bike, but for different reasons.

I hate running because I am lazy and I don't like the impact or the feel, or just anything about it. I hate riding a bike, because you spend way more time going up hill, the reason being, is you are slower up hill, faster down hill and in between on the flat, so inevitably you spend more time going up hill then anything else.

This, is part of the reason I am a fat kid.

Re: trying to get fit

get into an MMA class or BJJ

its fun, an uses your abs in a different way then any ab machine. I like to keep a fairly lean diet but mix it up! eating just chicken is bad for you and your body will drop while your on the chicken and gain when your off it.

I havent had time to work ot in a while Im at 185 now, was at 160-165 when i was doing BJJ and felt so much better and energized then I do now.

good luck and its all about perservirance and manintaining a set scheduel

Re: trying to get fit

running won't do ---- to trim fat. (unless your are very overweight already)

I'm not speculating on this, I've been training people this ---- forever.

if you want the DETAILED long explanation with big vocabulary words you probably won't understand, send me a PM.

if you want to melt fat off really fast this is what you do.

3-4 times a week get on an elliptical machine, (thing that looks like a nordic trac/stair machine put together) DO NOT GO FAST, you want to raise and maintain your heartrate about 20-30% over your resting heart rate.

if you are out of breath your going to fast. its more like a fast walk, but slower than a jog...just the start of a little sweat on the forehead.

you need to do the elliptical machine for 40-60 min.

do it on an empty stomach, preferably in the morning soon after you wake up. (your metabolism is at its highest)

the first 15-20 min burn simple sugars, followed by the burning of exclusively fat tissue for the next 20-30 min (THIS IS PROVIDED YOU ARE NOT GOING TO FAST)
if your doing it correctly you won't even feel like your getting much of a work out.
the next 10-15 min is considered a cooldown period but your not changing anything. at this point your body starts catabolizing (breaking down) muscle tissue.

get off the machine. after 40-60 min your wasting your time.

if you want to HMT your workout (make it work better/faster) throw in some strength training of your choice with free weights before or after your done with your elliptical routine.

oh yeah in case you forgot. DO NOT GO FAST, if your out of breath then your increasing your cardiovascular endurance but not doing hardly ---- for fat burning.

thats it. you can lose 15-20 pounds in the first 2-3 weeks doing this. If you do strength training along with it, you'll get really cut, really fast.

**DIET: Chicken and rice, if you eat burgers make it a 1/4 pound instead of a Double quarter pounder.

Re: trying to get fit

Have sex.. a lot of sex. If you are really that concerned, try swimming. Yeah, it sounds gay, but it works pretty much every muscle group in your body. Swim 2 miles a day if you can, and keep eating healthy. I've figured out that if I have like one really unhealthy meal (4 JBC's from wendys, fries and a frosty) every few weeks, it seems like I lose weight the next day rather than gain. Weird, but true. And seriously, why do you care about the shape your body is in? I'm not terribly in shape (too much beer) and still enjoy life. But, I could probably keep up with 99% of the people on this site in terms of fitness ----, so maybe I do care lol.

Salt Water if you really want to cut weight quickly. Those ab machines suck cock, and the electric stimulus belts do too. Don't buy them. Perfect Push-Up is the only ---- on TV that works, and that thing is really useful. Buy one for $30 at costco.

Re: trying to get fit

I lost 70 lbs in 8 months in college. Working part time at UPS (sometimes 2 5-hour shifts), 6 hours of school, Lots of Ramen Noodles, and 10 mile runs every day (found motivation in a breakup, just zoned out and ran my ass off). Went from 250 to 180. Fucked up my back at work and gained it back. Trying like hell to get back down now that my back dosen't bother me so much anymore.

Sexercise, ----, I wish it worked that well, feels great, but its not going to get the results.

Re: trying to get fit

Do cardio, run bike, elliptical whatever in the morning is best but any time is good. Also change the diet up a little. Things that are bad ground beef, sausage, liquid cheese sauces, generally thick creamy sauces, like cream of ___ soup are made of fat, and fried things, like crispy chicken. Most important eat lots of lean protein like chicken grilled not fried and fish, and slow digesting or low glycemic index carbs, like whole grain stuff.

I think you just might be Fucked. Having a 6-pack has a lot to do with body fat and body type. lots of people have really strong core muscles and you just can't see em because you have to get pretty lean to see the abs.

I'd like to be 150-155. I'm 5'10". All being bigger than that has gotten me is fat, and lost flexability.
