Sure you could just get a longer geared (DX or LS tranny) and not spin the tires as much and you might be able to get better times with that, but you would get even better times with the shorter geared tranny and some improved traction.

I hear this statement allllllll the time. Funny, 3rd gear in the EJ sucked N/A. I get to like 9Xmph with boost and it's quick but just queer. 1st 2nd then 3333rrrrrrdddd. Shorter is always better. That's why we all win against Corvettes on the highway then we hit 140mph and they are going into 5th from 4th.

Re: Tranny opinion
Remember kids, your transmission gear sets are just unit multiplyers.
"But Mista Pimpsta, what the ---- does that mean?"
I'm glad you asked
look here,http://science.howstuffworks.com/gear-ratio1.htm
the jist:
short gears put torque to the ground sooner then later, long gears take less torque to turn(think gas mileage).
here are the "unit multiplyers"
i got these numbers from
http://hybrid2.honda-perf.org/tech/zcinfo.html
ZC: Si:
1st: 3.250........ 3.250
2nd: 1.944........ 1.894
3rd: 1.346........ 1.259
4th: 1.033........ .937
5th: .878........ .771
final 3.888........ 4.250
the ratio is in reference to gear rotation/crank revolution.

Re: Tranny opinion
well that was a good read. i love that site they make it so even stupid people can have an idea. but i to have heard long gears for turbo but i was thikin if you get an ls tranny with a lightened flywheel it would pull threw the gears faster because of less weight to move right? and kinda equal it out.
and i have a y1 tranny and a gsr and i was thinkin about what jago said. is there that big of a prob that ill need to worry about when i boost?
