Re: Traction on a budget, radials or slicks?

I guess I don't spend enough time on Honda forums to know if there's anyone already using these on Honda's, but quite a few FWD DSM guys who needed some sticky tires on a budget bought these tires called Green Dot Retreads. They are cheap, and apparently are extremely sticky and work perfect for drag racing.

And yes these are RETREADS, which is probably why they are dirt cheap. But plenty of people have ran them with pretty good success.

I'll see if I can find the site they sell them on, and maybe some links for you on some DSM sites of some threads where other people used them.

OK here's the site. The ones that everyone uses are the ones on the top of the list called High Performance Z Class http://www.retreadsunlimited.com/

I know turbotrix used to sell them too, but it looks like they don't have them on their site anymore.

And some links to give you an idea of what others asy who used them on FWD DSM's...

Those are just a couple I found doing a quick search. Just a nice cheap alternative for you to consider.

And since I'm sure there will be a few people on here who will come and put their 2 cents in about how they hate retreads and how they are just going to blow apart because they are shitty, yet have zero experience with them, here's a little retread info for you to learn from. http://www.retread.org/

just buy some bfg's. Some local guy was selling a used set with a lot of life left for like 100 bucks 15"

Stop being -----'s... 24.5 inch slicks dropped from 7-8k will be fine... He has a b-series so 300-350whp is not that hard to obtain... ::)

I'm going to go with some new 14" BFG's. I'll just run them and see what happens. If I keep spinning them, I'll go for slicks.

Dude I spin my 14" Nitto's no problem, your going to spin yours... Get the slicks... After the first run you will thank me...

Josh Ross ran his dad's car before it was built with 277whp (or right around there) and pulled an 11.99 @ 110-112mph with a high 1.6/low 1.7 60ft if I remember correctly...

Id rather have a set of drag radials then slicks, since you can use the DR on the street and they last longer. And 24.5" will be too big for you

Re: Traction on a budget, radials or slicks?

I realize that Steve, but street racing is pretty much dead. Like I said my car spins drag radials like nothing at about 210whp and I have a Quaife LSD, so 270+ whp will be useless on the street with 14" drag radials... I'd much rather have slicks for the track, and I have had both. The slicks won't be that much too big, come on now...

Where are you getting these custom made steelies for $40 cuz i got some dr's sitting in my basement that need something to be mounted on
