Traction on a budget, radials or slicks?
Here's my dilema-
Poor college student, but still budget for my car. I'm finishing everything up with my car, but I'm looking at either getting Lenso wheels/Slicks, trying to mount slicks on steelies, or just getting drag radials for my stock tires.
Hopefully going to make ~275 hp on my LS (b16 tranny) with a GM9. I've got 900lb Skunk2 drag coilovers and a J-K tuning traction bar. I've also got about ~300 bucks to spend.
I found a used pair of lenso's with MT 24.5" slicks for 400 bucks. They've got a few passes on them, but they are in pretty good condition. I've also priced BFG drag radials, and that'll put me at about 270, or 240 if I go with Nittos. Last option would be to find a steelie that I could mount a set of slicks onto. Are there any 13" steelies that I could even fit slicks on? I'm not sure if this is commonly done. I suppose I could dish out the 40 bucks and get custom made steelies, but that's even more hassle. Thanks guys.

If you want to go super budget, I'd look into some used road race tires. They're plenty because people go through them, and I cut a 1.94 60ft with the D series crx with sprint springs.
Or you could just watch out for a used set of drag radials.

Terrible advice. I don't know what hardness tires you were running but some autocross tires built for long heat cycles will absolutely suck for drag racing. I would reccomend regular all season tires way before used autocross slicks for drag racing

Nitto 555r drag radials = 2.1 60ft.
Advan road race tires= 1.9 60ft.
Same car, same night, same pressure. Not that all road race tires are going to outperform and drag radials, but this "terrible advice" worked for me.
