Buying guns online is a pain in the ass... you've gotta have the gun shipped to an FFL holder who can do the transfer for you. Go into your local Gander Mountain or Sportsman's Warehouse, point to a Ruger 10/22, say "That one," show them your driver's license, fill out the form (Yes, No, No, No, No, No, No...), plunk down $250, then go home and shoot a box of Thunderbolt through it. :1

But yeah... if you want a .22 rifle for your first gun, get a 10/22. They're cheap, durable, and there's a ton of aftermarket:

and to scottsi, if you compare 9mm rounds to a 45, its a big difference, my other buddy has a 9mm and wishes he had gotten a 45 because theres so much more stopping power.

I picked up the gun itself and three boxes of CCI ammo (one of which says "EXPLOSIVE" and has a picture of dynamite on it :S) for $250.

Colin

with that one being in your pocket, how safe is that with the hammer right out like that? seems like you could potentially go to grab something in your pocket and pop the hammer back and make it fire.
