Re:Sony amps

Yea i have to agree the ES line was ok at best, the rest of the stuff sucks ass. I had 3 sony decks and all sounded good but never worked right, 2 skipped to all hell and one would never keep radio presets, even tho the wiring was correct and itd never lose power to the battery wire, and the ground was good. They all broke buttons on the faceplates too. Ive had great sucess with the durability and quality of alpine and pioneer decks, but pioneer amps suck. Orion is nice but really expensive. If you want quality like that youre gonna really pay... i think stuff like phoenix gold and soundstream are compareable

I just bought an Eclipse head unit. The one with the %volt preouts and I cant believe the sound quality. Its feeding an Alpine % channel amp wich are feeding Boston acoustics all around and an 8" base tube. Its not earth shattering but ist the cleanest sound Ive heard so far.

Xplo im gonna hit you up couse I want a 2 channel amp and 1 more base tube so I can use the non fader output and use the front and rear X-overs(features on the head unit) to clean out the sound a little more.

i agree. i ran 2 of those for 9 years before they were stolen. 1 at 1 ohm mono running 4 jl 8" and the other running pair of 6.5" midbass, 1" tweets, 5.25" coax, and a single 3" center channel.

i switched to the sx amps and have had them for 8 years...good stuff.

I've had 2 old fosgate bbq grill amps in my car for 7 years. I have a 60ix bridged mono into 2 shitty crunch 12's in an isobaric enclosure and a 40i pushing 4 6½'s. Not that great of a system, but it sounds good to me and has been all this time. These Amp's are rock solid. If I upgrade anytime, I'll probably get a matching 100ix off ebay because I like these so much.

Any thoughts from the audio guru's?

Many people will talk bad about Fosgate, but I'm loyal to that brand...Always have been.

I currently have five of them operating in my system...2300 watts RMS @ 4 ohms.

I compete in sound quality & have taken 6 trophies out of 6 competitions using these amps.

stretch-d,

No I dont agree at all. When i see the lil wigger wannabee's around here they are blasting there ---- not so they can hear it, but so that everyone else has to.

Hell i've even seen the fuckers wearing ear plugs!

I dont mind during the day most of the time but sometimes its at 2 am and I hate that. I dont listen to music that would need that most of the time, I mean some bass is good but dont make 3 city blocks hear your ----.

Re:Sony amps

This is a prime example on how a few people who play their systems too loud at the wrong time can ruin a good thing for everyone.

I understand where you're comming from.

I'm against forcing other people to listen to what I'm listening to, but some people do this as a form of expression (at the expense of all others).

When I jam, my windows are usually up.

Edit: When you have a well balanced system, it doesn't require large amounts of bass to sound good.

Its always a few ppl that ruin something for the majority.

Anyways I see your point too, I myself would like some better sounding speakers and maybe 1 10" sub. I see no problem with that. There is just a limit is all, one person does not need 8 12" subs in the back of his car lol.

If your windows are up, thats great, down on a hot day...ok fine. You know the sterotype i'm talkin about though ;)

Yes I do. (nods head)

I'm 33 now and have been doing this as a hobby for 15 yrs & 3 yrs professionally. I think I'll be an old man 40 yrs from now and still have a system.

I know these systems add weight, but I think (if done right) it can really add to the driving experience.

I think you're a good canidate for sound quality airtronics.
