so the drag strip is about to open again, what size...

drag radials would be good to put on it? if i run 15" rota slip streams on the front. would it be ok to run the 14s i have on the back? or should i just run slips on the whole car and put the drags on the front?

You can do whatever and have a lot of fun, but the more serious minded you are...

You want the lightest skinnies on the back of your car possible: weight, and smaller contact patch for less rolling resistance. Slips all around *might* be lighter than 14" steelies, check into that. If those are your two primary wheel options I'd pay more attention to weight than contact patch for the rears.

As far as drag radials, some hook like mad on the street but suck on the track - so ask around. For slicks you want something on a smaller rim w/ some sidewall, but a large number of drag radials are designed with a semi-stiff sidewall to meet DOT approval so that theory doesn't neccesarily apply. Mickey I-tread drag radials, come in 215-235-250/50's on a 13" rim, and are designed to be run at lower psi. I've had great luck with them on the street, but never taken them to the track. I suck like that.

I have Nittos Drag Radials on 14" rims. They're ok. I think I might try a different brand when I'm done with them. I hear good things about BFGs.

The rims I use are American Racing. I bought them because they were super cheap. I have lighter 15" alumnium rims on the back, because... that's the tire I always use. :)

But yeah, I'm more for the fun and less on the science.

get the ones with the sweetest adds in the import magazine with the coolest looking tread patteren.

http://www.bfgoodrichtires.com/bfgap...p?source=micro

those shatterd the 1.0 g barrier!!!! and leading tuners and racers push them to the limit!

remember, the more brests in the add. The better traction you get. ^-^

Best low-buck combo, TurbodEG can probably afford a little better but unless you drop $$$ on Bogarts and stuff it's really just cosmetics and not less weight, is VX rims as drag skinnies, and www.diamondracingwheels.com for the lightweight $50-60/per steelies in DOT-illegal .065" or .095" and a variety of diameters, offsets, widths, etc.

BTW, rawr, those DRs you linked to are the ones Wes runs on his gutted CRX. They hook well from a roll at the 400+ whp level, kinda scary as you can feel the high mileage rotted stock bushings in the suspension compressing as the car squats and starts fighting you to run into a guard rail. They are also the ones I hear aren't so great at the track so *shrug*

i just picked the ones that look the coolest, no techinical bias what so ever. :y I like to run on snow tires soaked in oil.

Have you ever done a burnout until a tire popped, and then drove up and down the strip flinging sparks from the mangled steelie, to show your ass?

It beats spending money on snow tires and oil, y0!

i have 14" miata rims on the car now...and they are pretty damn light...lighter than the konig helix's that were on it...i already have the extended lug stud on the front for a fatter rim...so now i just need the rim and the slicks.
