Right if you are going to compare Mazda's sportscar with a Honda, you have to compare it to a Honda sportscar, S2000 or NSX.

Sure man, that's why nobody likes or tunes hondas. Yes a stock civic is an economy car, but most of our cars are not stock. By the way I drive a WRX, not an economy car, and my 88 turbo hatch.
