just tie a few ambulance altenators to your car, like 10 of em, drive em off of some windmill ---- on your roof or a tire, and viola. 2300amps of 12v power. invert that to like 120vdc, and still, 230 amps is pretty amazing

It will save you on gas, but you should watch your voltage appropriately.

As was answered before the engine is not running on water. Water is a by-product of combustion. Oh, and you can't see steam. That would be condensed water vapor.
